01. Marc Benjamin - Break It Down (Original Mix)
Welcome to the world of talented DJ, producer and remixer Marc Benjamin, known to his friends and parents as Marc Latupapua and truly
being the Benjamin of the family.
Marc started out at the early age of 13 keeping the kids dancing at school parties, playing for local radio, holding a residency at a neighbourhood
club and rocking venues across the Netherlands. His love for dance music was ignited by his big sister MC Lady Bee who he watched and heard playing
cool stuff out of her room and tracks like Agent X “Turbulence”, his first ever bought record, influenced him to no limit. She finally let him use
her turntables, which he battered by spending numerous hours perfecting his mixing skills, music selection and developing his own style listening to
diverse genres as UK Garage, Drum Bass and House.
When Marc reached the innocent age of fifteen in 2005, he was ultimately signed by a booking agency which immediately saw the potential of this
youngster, who according to Dutch law wasn’t even allowed to play in clubs! Straight away Marc Benjamin got thrown into the deep water performing at
festivals like Nopeisdope and Sneakerz, while plunging in the scene playing clubs in the Netherlands and spinning in countries all over Europe.
Not satisfied with the tracks he had been playing and buying he decided it was time to attempt his hand at producing exclusive tracks, stuff and
remixes for his own sets to distinguish himself from the pack of DJ’s who played the same tracks in their sets over and over again.
In 2009 he debuted with not one but two releases, the first one being the collaboration with Remaniax called “Blazin” on Audiodamage (the label
from Kid Massive) a straight pumping house groover with infectious stabs. His second release was his solo effort, three very strong tech-house rollers
with crisp beats called ”Nimsay/On The Boxes/Trick” for the groundbreaking and influential Sneakerz MUZIK label. After the excellent reception to
both releases this spurred him into the studio again, working solo plus hooking up with fellow DJ’s/producers Skitzofrenix and Remaniax putting out
tracks on diverse labels like Bedroom Muzik, Mixmash records, Spinnin and Vendetta. This constant flow of producing tracks and remixes over the
following years were supported and played out by DJ’s like Tisto, Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Roger Sanchez and in due course led him to mix the
prestigious Nopeisdope cd compilation in 2011.
Fast forward to this year, which sees his “Games” track shining on the Dimmak records played out by Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero, plus two trackers
“Surrender and Superstuff” were released on Mixmash records, again backed by Laidback Luke, Tisto and featured in David Guetta dj-sets.
However, if all his music not immediately rings a bell you will remember Marc Benjamin when he plays out. His mature dj-sets are celebrated for
playing unique original main room smashing sounds to crowds and combined with his charismatic and classy posture behind the decks, Marc guarantees
that the audience has a good time and will love him for his versatility.
Marc Benjamin is also the weekly Thursday resident DJ for “Reveal” (Escape club, Amsterdam) and is holding this spot since 2011, playing to a hip
student crowd offering them more than one-hit wonders and educating them with his musical discoveries.
Fact of the matter is that Marc Benjamin remains eager to demonstrate his ability to rock both high-end venues, festivals and clubs for the coming
