Артист: Latent Название: The Earth Of Eden Жанр: AlternRock Год выхода: 2013 Label: Nicolas Bollinger / Rover the Top Records / 029882563229 О музыке:
"The Earth of Eden", an album by Latent, is based on the story surrounding "The Vines of Eden", a book series to be crafted by Nicolas
Bollinger (Latent; primary whiner) and his best friend and partner Sarah Kennemer (procrastinator; primary author). Sarah is a graduate student in the
LSU system and holds a BA in English Literature. Nicolas holds his high school diploma while rocking in the fetal position at night to mourn the waste
of time that was the education he could have given himself. He occasionally pretends to be a college student for free access to a library he already
has free access to. He is either too dumb or too lazy to know this. -Tiger
A concept album is often inaccurately equated to being musically progressive by nature. But in reality, no progressive tropes, no modal soloing, nor
even the signature theatrical expressiveness many progressive rock artists wantonly abuse is needed to achieve a solid work of concept.
"The Earth of Eden" is an album that would not be considered progressive by most individuals. Musically, some songs have a progressive feel, but the
tone of the album, though at times dramatic, is more subtle in its movements than traditional progressive rock or metal. The story is less ubiquitous
in its presentation, to the point that some might call it a group of "concept songs" rather than a cohesive story. This was intentional, and even with
a completed book series, it might be hard for the reader/listener to pick out particular perspectives telling each story. You will, at times, wonder
what is going on. This is to be expected. For right now, the story is what you make of it. When it's done, just imagine a large bear of a man
leaning toward you and whispering gently in your ear "you were wrong all along...."
The similarities between TEOE and progressive concept albums lie in the way in which they are intended to be listened to. This is important. The
stories are unique for each song, but TEOE is an experience that I feel should be taken as a whole before settling on a song or two. Some of the songs
are rough in their initial presentation, but clean up nicely after a short time. Remember that the textures, choice of instruments, and even the vocal
style is meant to fit the tone of the song, which is in turn meant to move the album, and thus the story, along.
